Grace , Bronze, 35” x 15” x 11”
This piece won the annual Edmund Stewardson Figure Sculpture Competition at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in March 2018. This award allowed me to complete a plaster cast which has since been added to the school’s collection. Included in the 117th Annual Student Exhibition at PAFA in May 2018, a private collector commissioned me to complete a bronze cast of the piece. Grace is a culmination of the work I have done in sculpture, figurative art, and bronze at the academy.
Fluid, Oil Clay, 20” x 12” x 12”
This piece represents the first figure sculpture I completed in which I directly reference the specific aesthetics of water; this can be seen in the cascading forms of the figure, the negative space, and the drapery.
Male Figure Study (David), Oil clay, 21” x 8” x 5”
This academic figure study further investigates how rhythm and movement can be understood with surface textures, such as the long marks in the legs, the defined anatomical forms in the hand, and the rough rake marks on the shoulders.
